i think it would be really good if we could get our arrangement of pomp and circumstance to performance level for some of our bigger concerts this year, i thinks its a shame that we have such a great piece in our folders and we dont play it. If we practise enough it could sound really good.

Kevin,

Is it possible to publish a list of the Band’s archived music, so we might be able to see what is available to us.

• Emily Watson says:

I would very much like to play pieces that are already in our library like… Westside Story, My Fair Lady and King and I if possible please. Thanks Emily Watson.

Would anybody out there be interested in going to the CBSO Centre, Birmingham, on the evening of 19th June 2010 after we’ve played at Rolleston, to hear:-
Hannah Marcinowicz (brilliant saxophonist) and the Birmingham Symphonic Winds?
The programme includes: Clare Grundman’s “Concertante for alto saxophone” and Philip Sparke’s “Carnival” f0r alto saxophone. The conductor is Keith Allen (who once gave Tutbury Band a coaching session) and the concert is entitled “Simply Midsummer”. The concert starts at 7.30 pm and costs £10.00 a ticket.

Re: summer programme

I would like to nominate “Star Wars : The Phantom Menace” for a second go.

I am sure I can count on widespread support.

When I collected my dog from Green Lane kennels last Friday, the owner, Mr Shilton, told me that he had been vastly impressed with Tutbury Band at the concert at de Ferrers and thought we should be much more widely known.

• David Walford says:

I’d very much like to play “Folksong Suite” by Vaughan Williams and “Tall Ships” by Ron Goodwin and “The Caliph of Baghad”.
Could I add to Barbara’s list of No Nos, – Tequila!

• Barbara says:

Hi Kevin – rather than nominate my favourite pieces for me it would be easier to nominate one or two pieces I really DO NOT want to play this year.
e.g. Please no more Disney, and J.C. as they have surely been done to death over the past few years.
Maybe we should ask parents and friends which pieces they would like to hear?

My new music choice for Junior Band would be: Bella’s Lullaby from Twilight and Salute to Louis Armstrong,
thanks.

• Douglas Owen says:

What a splendid web site! The band has come a long way since Malcolm encouraged raw beginners to have a go! He would have been very proud to hear your Disney Rendition.
